In a remote network, applications are hosted on a central server and are published to remote devices. Consider an instance wherein applications that contain website links or email links are deployed from the server to the remote device. When multiple links are clicked, multiple websites are opened in multiple browsers that use different platforms. When the application contains multiple email links, the user clicks them and opens multiple email clients that run on different platforms. The problem is that these multiple browsers and multiple email clients using different platforms eat up server resources. Moreover, the end user might want to open website links in the local browser and email client platform.

Server to client URL redirection addresses these challenges. When the server is configured to redirect URLs and protocols, the server requests the client device to open website and email links at the client end. While the server is relieved of the additional load, end users have the flexibility to use any browser or email client. This feature can be configured on the server and the client device.
